1. Kiss and Spell

KISS AND SPELL by Celestine Martin is a brand new addition to my TBR, only recently published on September 26th. What initially drew me in was the cover, but this book has everything from fortune tellers to a prince! If a witchy book has a prince, sign me up!

2. In the Shadow Garden

IN THE SHADOW GARDEN by Liz Parker was our very first Unperfectly Golden Book Club pick, so it holds a special place in my heart. All that aside, this book drew me in from the first page and kept me hooked with the family drama, magic bourbon, and mystery throughout!

Publisher: Forever
Pages: 336

3. The Kiss Curse

THE KISS CURSE by Erin Sterling is the sequel to THE EX HEX and was one of my favorite reads of 2022! While I adored both books in the series, this was my favorite. I loved Gwyn and Wells, and I plan to re-read this one every Halloween … at least for awhile.

4. Witch Please

I borrowed WITCH PLEASE by Ann Aguirre from the library late last summer but never got around to reading it (go figure!). So it’s higher on my witchy TBR pile this year. Have you read it yet?

Publisher: Sourcebooks Casablanca
Pages: 368

5. Practical Magic

PRACTICAL MAGIC by Alice Hoffman has been on my TBR since I saw the movie and absolutely fell in love with it! I’ve seen the movie about a dozen times but still never read the book, so when BOTM came out with an anniversary cover, I snagged it right away. I’m hoping to read it before too much of the evil white stuff coats the ground …

6. The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches

THE VERY SECRET SOCIETY OF IRREGULAR WITCHES by Sangu Mandanna was a #BookstagramMadeMeDoIt purchase and has been sitting on my TBR since last fall. This is the story of an orphan who posts videos online pretending to be a witch and someone catches on! Described as “a warm and witchy hug of a book” … sounds perfect to me!

7. Not Your Ex’s Hexes

NOT YOUR EX’S HEXES by April Asher was a NetGalley win for me, though I haven’t read it yet. Of course, when I snagged it on NetGalley, I didn’t know it was a sequel. Oops! So I should also read the first book in the series – NOT THE WITCH YOU WED.

Publisher: St. Martin’s Griffin
Pages: 352

8. Hex Appeal

I will admit that HEX APPEAL by Kate Johnson was a bit of a cover buy for me. But it sounds like a super cute witchy romance between Essie and her new landlord, Josh. I’m always up for a good romance …

Publisher: One More Chapter

9. Hocus Pocus & the All-New Sequel

HOCUS POCUS is one of my absolute all-time FAVORITE Halloween movies!! I fully meant to read the sequel and watch it last Halloween but it never happened ๐Ÿ˜” I read through the first book last year and loved it so I’m hoping to get the sequel read before Thanksgiving …

A few final thoughts …

Hopefully I’ve added a book or two to your autumn TBR (no, I’m not sorry). Do you have any witchy books to add to my list? Or ones that have been on your own reading list for far too long (it happens to the best of us!).

Let me know in the comments which book you’re looking forward to reading! Happy reading, xo.

  1. This is fantastic – I’m actually at the British Library’s brilliant exhibition today “Festival of the Accused + Light Source,” all about the history of witches, and the horrific history. I’ll be writing this up. Which witchy book is your favourite?
